What is Neurofibromatosis?

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a group of genetic conditions that cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. While most tumors are non-cancerous, they can lead to complications such as vision loss, learning disabilities, and chronic pain.

In Nigeria, many people living with NF face delayed diagnosis due to a lack of specialized knowledge and societal stigma. NF Aware Nigeria works tirelessly to bridge this gap through education and direct support.

How We Make a Difference

Everything we do is centered around three core pillars to empower those affected by NF.

Advocacy & Storytelling

Amplifying the voices of NF patients to influence health policy and reduce nationwide stigma.

Education & Research

Providing the latest medical research and educational toolkits for healthcare providers and families.

Community & Support

Building local support chapters where families can find emotional and practical guidance from others.

Living with NF isn't just a medical journey.

For many Nigerians, the journey starts with confusion. A child develops spots or small bumps, and families travel from hospital to hospital searching for answers that often don’t come for years.

Delayed diagnosis can lead to irreversible complications. We are here to ensure that no Nigerian has to navigate this path alone or without the information they need to thrive.
